Hi Eric Well ....naturally they will use the change associated with lead free as an opportunity to promote their products. As Leigh is a development chemist at Humiseal/Concoat and the Manager of their cleaning products he will naturally promote the use of cleaning chemicals in conjunction with conformal coatings. I don't think that is a bad thing necessarily, its a point of view. For information: we did and do work closely with Leigh at Concoat and did contribute information and materials to him which he used to generate numbers for this paper. The primary intention intention is that this data (with coating and with out) can be used by our mutual customers in the same way as the analogous cooperations with Zestron and Kyzen. We are also working with Leigh and other development chemists at Concoat in the generation of data for coating uncleaned flux residues. This is a more complex project so we do not have an output yet. Part of my agenda this week is project definition and resources for this. Presently our plan is for completion end of Q2 (However was Q1, and before that Q4 /2005), the delays are externally caused 9by our having to wait for standards committees etc. for example) Regards Mike _____ From: [log in to unmask] [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Eric Bastow Sent: 02 March 2006 15:13 To: Mike Fenner Subject: [tech] Conformal Coating Propaganda {01} After looking at this article, my impression is that the conformal coating people are using the transition to Pb-Free as an opportunity to "scare" people into cleaning no-clean Pb-Free residues for the sake of making their (the conformal coating people) lives easier. The article was penned by a "development manager" at Humiseal. Am I right in thinking this way? http://circuitsassembly.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content <http://circuitsassembly.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view& amp;id=2939&Itemid=0> &task=view&id=2939&Itemid=0 Best Regards, Eric Bastow, CSMTPE Technical Support Engineer Southeastern US Indium Corporation of America E-Mail: [log in to unmask] Phone: 315-853-4900 ext. 7504 Cell Phone: 315-534-3487 ***This email, its content and any files transmitted with it are intended solely for the addressee(s) and may be legally privileged and/or confidential.
