Along the same lines... I saw a product that is essentially an X-ray scanner used to determine if a component / material is RoHS compliant. It is "low-dose" radiation, but my question is how do you protect the employees who are using it from the radiaion? Why lead vests of course! Or maybe they could just stand behind the old solder pot! -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of John Burke Sent: Friday, March 10, 2006 4:07 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Lead free Friday OK TechNetters where is the humor? Let's see if we can't kick it off with an EU design competition. Most people agree that taking the lead out of solder was pointless and potentially dangerous from a reliability viewpoint. There is legislation coming up on how to design electronics to be environmentally conscious from the same legislative team. So I figured TechNet could come up with a few suggestions to help them along here is mine - feel free to pitch in. My suggestion is to remove the BATTERY in the Toyota Prius ECO friendly electronics. The car gets great gas mileage but imagine how much better it would be if it didn't have to carry tall that excess weight around..........8-) John John Burke Senior Manager - Operations Work: 510 249 5233 Mobile: 408 515 4992 Email: [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> Professional Profile <https://www.linkedin.com/e/fps/2665502/> Optichron <http://www.optichron.com> 4221 Technology Drive <http://maps.google.com/maps?q=4221+Technology+Drive%2CFremont%2CCA++945 38&hl=en> Fremont, CA 94538 See who we know in common <https://www.linkedin.com/e/wwk/2665502/> Want a signature like this? <https://www.linkedin.com/e/sig/2665502/> --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 ----------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 -----------------------------------------------------
