No advertisements!? Next thing you'll tell us is that you get to watch the winter Olympic events as they happen rather instead of heavily edited tape delay during prime time. The Superbowl kicks off here after 11pm Sunday night, so we won't be watching it live, but recorded some days later. 'Course, that means we fast forward through about 80% of the coverage, ads, replays, inane interviews, etc. It's better that way (although beer/snack consumption can be somewhat compromised). More importantly, the Rugby Union 6 Nations tournament starts today, with England v Wales and Ireland v Italy (France and Scotland play tomorrow). We have five weekends of permutations of this to come. Bliss. TV coverage with no advertising. But we still have inane interviews. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_union/default.stm Also in Premiership football, Manchester United are playing Fulham, which in our family can bring out some contention - we have supporters of both teams. As much as I like the game of cricket, I know that many people particularly in the US have a little difficulty with the scoring. I didn't realize how bad this was until playing a game with a US navy team in the Mediterranean some years ago, one of the team asked me "hey bud, how many out to an over?" I must admit, when I look at the scoring system for American football, I, like that cricket player am completely at a loss. The results seem to make about as much sense as bistromathics which hitchhikers guide fans will know is the scoring system used to total the bill in a restaurant after a particularly heavy session where people have drifted in and out. The numbers at the end having no reality to the recollection of what was eaten/drunk by those around the table left to pick up the Tab. I do however enjoy the game since it mysteriously appears to be played about 75% in video replay, with a kind interpreter drawing funny squiggles on the screen and explaining the play. I like em both cricket football....................all of it. You would not believe how nuts this town has been for the last few weeks. Hosting the Superbowl is infinitely more of a big deal than the Pistons winning the NBA Finals a couple of years ago. And if you want to consider impossible scenarios, I'm sure that if the Lions were going to the superbowl and it was somewhere else, the hooplah would not compare to this. There are 100's of 'celebrity' hosted parties this week, some by invitation only, but for most you buy a ticket, with different levels of access costing different amounts.... many of which end up well into $K's apiece.... crazy! Who knew? I just had lunch with my usual crew. A couple of the whitebread-iest goys you ever saw were talking about how they were chillin' wit' Snoop Dawg and his posse last night at the Detroit Yacht Club.... Myself, I can't decide whether to hang with P-Diddy or Paris Hilton tonight.... maybe I'll just watch the Pistons on TV. -Chris "Whittaker, Dewey (AZ75)" <Dewey.Whittaker@HONEYWELL To: [log in to unmask] .COM> cc: Sent by: TechNet Subject: Re: [TN] NTC: Go Seahawks <[log in to unmask]> 02/03/2006 12:48 PM Please respond to TechNet E-Mail Forum; Please respond to "Whittaker, Dewey (AZ75)" Since it is being played in Detroit, it could be a real danger field for both Teams.
