Dave, I don't know whether it is still available, but when I was at Nortel we used to use a material called Multicore PC 130-04 Flux Resist. I THINK we used to dunk the connectors in the stuff before putting them on the boards for wave soldering, but it is so looong ago, I can't remember. It might also not be available because it might contain fluorocarbons (great global warmers). It passed halide ion, copper mirror, Bellcore SIR and ECM testing. I know I have asked this question before but I either am still having Xmas cookie withdrawals or just have not drank enough Diet Coke today and I can't find my old notes. Can someone please direct me to a source of "don't let the solder wick up the connector tail" plugs/boots? I have a connector I don't want the "connector tails" to have solder on them and need to "block" the solder wicking action with some type of plug and/or sleeve. TIA!
