Hi All I have had a customer ask the following questions in regards to manufacturability, refering to IPC7351 "The recommended pads for some ICs are rounded, others are rectangular. Is there are reason for the difference? Otherwise is there any general advantage in one over the other?" "Resistors, inductors, capacitors, polarized caps, LEDs etc all seem to need different footprints, even though they are the same size (eg metric 2012 or 3216). Is that necessary or desirable? If not, could the larger size option be used for all?" "What minimum hole / track / gap / annular ring sizes do you find can be handled by all decent PCB suppliers without increased cost?" I hope I am within the scope and appreciate any thoughts and comments to help with a suitable answer.
