Technetters,

We are a specialized machine shop whose main focus is tooling for
electronic assembly companies. Pallets for wave, smt, press, coating,
etc. On our wave pallets it is becoming quite common that we will have
parts of the pallet made out of titanium due to close proximity of
topside PTH leads and bottomside smt. One of my customers brought up
the question today of using aluminum with a coating or type of anodize
instead of titanium. Is there such a beast out there? I seem to
remember some of my customers talking about using aluminum tooling in
the old days before the exotic composites came to fruition. Any help
would be great. I know this necessarily isn't a PCB assembly or design
issue but I figured if anybody knew the folks on Technet would.

Thanks,

Chad Haima
