Some researchers believe that behavioral and neurological defects exhibited by most of the emperors of Rome between A.D. 15 and 225 were the effects of lead poisoning. In those times, lead was used for water ducts, utensils, ornaments, wine storage, coins and jewelry. Might explain the high levels of lead in his hair... Didn't he drink a lot of wine? Maybe eat off of lead pewter plates and drink out of lead mugs? Bill Brooks - KG6VVP PCB Design Engineer, C.I.D.+, C.I.I. Hello Ioan, You are right. I did some digging and there are some references to hearing loss however, reportedly only a couple of cases of deafness have been documented. The link below has some quotes from the fellow who did the analysis of Beethoven's hair samples. It turns out they found elevated lead levels that averaged about 60 parts per million (ppm) in the six Beethoven hairs. According to the principle investigator, average Americans today have 0.6 ppm of lead in their hair, about 100 times less than Beethoven (unless one uses Grecian Formula hair coloring on their hair... ;-) . http://www.filmcraft.net/cgi-bin/bull/webbbs_files/index.cgi?read=74 Best regards, Joe --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 ----------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 -----------------------------------------------------
