I agree, Phil. We recently performed a very detailed tryout of several different X-ray machines. When all of the performance and cost factors were stacked up and weighted, and the samples were sent out to each of the vendors and pictures sent back, the Dage 7600 came out on top. It even has software features that takes 5DX fail data and automatically goes to the failed location for failure analysis, which is what it is best at. No one can say any one machine is best for all purposes, because they are all tailored for different things. Some, like the 5DX, are tailored more towards high-volume anomaly detection, but others such as the Dage are much better at going in with a .025 micron detection capability and can literally show you the inside of the crack in a BGA solder joint in a clear, detailed manner. BTW, don't forget to take into consideration the weight of the machine, if you are considering purchasing a new one. Many of them weigh far more than the rated maximum static weight limit in lbs per square foot of the floor. You need to find out what your desired site can support before you pick a machine, it may be too heavy. -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Phil Zarrow Sent: Monday, May 23, 2005 1:52 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] X-ray equipment experiences... Steve I would not buy a X-Ray system today (new) that didn't have oblique angle viewing. You can find it on Dage, as well a Fein-Focus and Phoenix, as well as others. I personally prefer the Dage software and support, but that;s my opinion and experience. I also have a great amount of respect for Dick Amtower and Don Miller at YEStech. I worked with them when they were at CR as well as their machines. Photon Dynamics appears to have done a real number on that company and it is a shame. I understand from CR users that Photo left them adrift without support - not sure how true that is. But don;t hold that against Amtower and Miller - they are good, honest people (in my experience) and are putting their hearts and souls into YESTech. My observation....
