No, the immersion gold in the ENIG process is a self-limiting deposit and will be 3 - 8 microinches; the thickness of the plated gold in the electrolytic process will be much harder to control; we spec 3 - 15 microinches (and sometimes get pushback). As Jeff said, it is the nature of the beast for a electrolytic-plated process to have deposit variability based on circuit density (and tank design; and anodes; etc and so forth). "Flash" is normally used to mean a thin, sacrificial coating of *plated* hard gold. I should be able to hold them to similar Ni and Au thickness specs as for ENIG no? If you are to solder to the thinner gold successfully it must be less than 20 uin. -- Thanks, Eddie Rocha South Bay Circuits (480) 940-3125 x122 --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 ----------------------------------------------------- - --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 -----------------------------------------------------
