Any chance the leads were Nickel over copper? I have seen similar on rectangular leads where the Nickel flaked off when the leads were formed. -----Original Message----- From: Stephen Gregory [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Monday, 7 March 2005 10:11 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Peeling Plating... YAY! IT'S MONDAY!!! YAY! (Ya'll are probably saying; "Sheesh, what's Steve been smoking?") I'm not smoking anything...I said "YAY" with my tongue in my cheek, so to speak. It's Monday again, and I have a couple of pictures for you to look at and let me know if any of you have seen anything like this before. We got these pictures from our customer asking us if we know what might have caused this. Go to: http://www.stevezeva.homestead.com and look at "Plating Peel" and "Plating Peel Close-up". Obviously, this is something that you don't want to see on component leads. It kinda' looks like the lead is shedding it's skin... We're going to contact the component vendor about this to see if they can shed some light on why this is happening...I wished I had the assembly here that the pictures came from, but we only have the photos right now. Anybody ever seen this before?
