You are referring of course to the archived articles at the end of the page on Lead Free components and RoHS. Good articles too... very informative. I have used Electronic Source for years and didn't know they were publishing articles until recently... so it was a discovery for me as well. Regarding your comment on the race... It's not really a race to the finish... but rather an endurance race I think...The path is not clear, the obstacles are unknown... and the race does not always go to the swiftest one...but rather to the one who makes the correct choice with the least warning... I think that takes study of the issues and thought regarding the sensibility of the direction the 'herd' is being led to... After all we are not lemmings.... are we? If we use our good sense... we can both protect the environment and make a reliable product... but rushing to meet a deadline will most certainly cause people to not be thorough in their steps or decisions...which can be very costly. Like the scare of 2000 we may find that it is more 'scare' than real threat... we shall see. Best regards, Bill Brooks - KG6VVP PCB Design Engineer , C.I.D.+, C.I.I. When the steam engine was invented, not all people were happy. Same when first cotton harvesting machines came, or automatic this and that. News are oftenly seen as antinews. I can see that some take the leading initiative immediately, som struggle against, and most are just ambivalent and don't do anything. Ourselves, we have been preparing leadfree for years, and leadfree is slowly adopted and used in many products. At the same time, we try, like in a 10,000 m race, to get a glimpse of what happens with those leading the race and what's going on behind. Will the field spread, or will we all cross the line within seconds? Will some give up halfways, and some be exhausted with just one round left? I have given the articles to our tech responsible. He got no time to read pounds of papers and endless rumination. Many thanks, Bill, best concentration of lead(free)news I've seen for a long time.
