The steady exchange of information keeps us all in the loop and we are concerned about our organization and its running and direction... with good reason... To that end I think this forum serves a dual purpose... 1) One to help our fellow designers solve technical issues and exchange solutions to them... technical discussion is really what all of this is about... 2) the other is to open the lines of communication between us as members and to work together as a team to better our profession and our organization. We have discovered that we all have a lot in common and can work to raise the bar for our profession and its benefits to us as designers and to the industry as a whole. Most definitely... The Chapters SHOULD be posting what's going on in their areas and sharing it with those other members that might be far from their meetings... its encouraging to see all the great technical presentations going on all over the world... and... If I was visiting a town somewhere I would want to visit the local chapter there while I was in town to make the acquaintance of the members... I also might want to contact the presenter who spoke in your chapter and ask them if they could visit our local chapter next.... :) We need news of what's going on to stay connected and benefit our members... So don't be afraid to post what's happening and your ideas... I don't think we want to stifle communication at all... quite the opposite, we want to encourage it... Along those lines... I will be posting an announcement soon about our next chapter meeting in San Diego... We will be holding our next meeting at the Del Mar Electronics show and inviting the public attending the show to see how a chapter works and invite them to listen to a presentation on "PCB Surface Finishes and Lead Free" by Brad Saunders of Cosmotronic in Irvine, Ca. It should be a terrific meeting for all who choose to attend. http://www.vts.com/delmar/ We hope you will visit us when you are in Southern California... http://dcchapters.ipc.org/SanDiego/index.html Best regards, Bill Brooks - KG6VVP PCB Design Engineer , C.I.D.+, C.I.I. Also, since publication of the Route seems to be, well, erratic, I would suggest pre-empting that and posting chapter reports direct to this listserv. All DC members should subscribe to this listserv, and would have a good reason to, assuming some of this info is regularly circulated here.
