are you using polymeric material that not meet the spec extractable ionics level for the assembly? oh, no answer required. jk -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of Dehoyos, Ramon Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 10:40 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] Sulfide contamination Now that the subject is sulfate, in a previous life there were several boards that used polysulfides glues to liquid seal or mechanical stabilize tall components. So how is it that sulfate can be detrimental to components? Is it the source from unstable sulfur? This sulfides were added after the board was fully populated and they were heat cure or UV light cure. I liked the smell from the old lady, far from wrotten eggs.. besides this, can epoxies contain sulphuric compounds in any form? The material declarations I use to see, don't mention sulphur or sulfides or anything S-like. I've seen some silver migration and corrosion around chips that were epoxied, also seen with some bleedout, and just wondered what mobile ions could play on that arena.
