I thought only UK got high price PC... I think the rest of EU may all heading to the high price PC soon... (time to buy them in Asia? Of course you can shipback for recycle... they are doing the recycle nowadays even you do not buy from Asia). jk ;-( -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of Brian Ellis Sent: Thursday, February 24, 2005 6:19 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] RoHS Cleaning Chemical Compliance Provided that all the chemistry is removed, there cannot be anything to be concerned about in RoHS. You can use all the lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmium etc. that you like, provided that there is none left on the product when it leaves the factory. However, there is much worse to come: REACH. It is not impossible that this will make some printed circuit and component manufacture and assembly totally uneconomic in Europe. This will be great for non-European countries, of course. The reason? Well, our industries use many chemicals in relatively small quantities. Registration of these will cost a fortune, so that either they will not be manufactured or imported within the EU boundaries or, if they are, the cost increase of the said chemicals will make them impossible to use and stay in business. This will make RoHS look like a Sunday-school outing for the European electronics industry and the rest of the world will be laughing all the way to the bank.
