I saw a video years ago where the manufacturer was bonding kapton (coverlay with adhesive) with what looked like a small clothes iron. I don't see why this same technique would not work for a repair. Since you are bonding to a relatively flat surface (you don't have to fill copper) it would be worth a shot. You would need to heat up the coverlay adhesive to the melting point, apply some pressure and you have a patch. I'm thinking of maybe an LF0220 2 mil Kapton with 2 mils adhesive. Go to http://www.dupont.com/fcm/products/H-73245.html for the data sheets. And, if you try this and it works let us all know. pete >From: "Kane, Joseph E (US SSA)" <[log in to unmask]> >Reply-To: TechNet E-Mail Forum <[log in to unmask]>, "Kane, >Joseph E (US SSA)" <[log in to unmask]> >To: [log in to unmask] >Subject: [TN] Tears In Polyimide/Kapton Flex >Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2005 13:46:08 -0500 > >Anyone have a recommendation about an epoxy or other adhesive to >bond small tears in flex?
