Interesting comment... I remember we had an electrical de-ionizing unit at EMCON, years and years ago... (they are now owned by Kyocera) and I don't remember any caustic chemicals in the process... Just a RO filter and an electrical connection to the unit... it must have worked because the water would not conduct electrical current after processing, which is one way you can test to see if the water has any impurities that are conductive in it... pure water is an insulator. Its all the minerals and contaminates that make it conductive. I can't see how it would hurt someone to drink it... very strange... indeed. (It's not Friday yet is it?)
