Leland, I used to try to save flux and program the selective spray fluxer to spray only the thru pockets on the wave solder fixture. The problem occurs with all the composite materials I've tried. Also a problem on titanium and anodized aluminum However, I had the same results. In addition, the unfluxed portion of the fixture do wear/burn quicker than the fluxed areas. So, I've re-programmed the spray fluxer to spray the entire bottom* of the fixture. * Also, I'll program the wave to turn off/on only when needed (ie off at beginning, on in middle, off at end). Although our present situation of contamination is minimal, any amount is still too much. We're using pallets made out of Durastone, which I believe is manufactured in France. We contacted those folks, and they suggested we try coating the pallets with Teflon. The resulting experiment didn't turn out as we'd planned. Only the area of the pallet that was fluxed resisted adhesion, and the remainder continued to pick up particulates (just about exactly opposite of my initial line of thinking). Does anyone have a suggestion? Our current cleaning frequency is every five cycles through the wave, which will have to be modified if we can't solve the problem.
