George, It's funny you mention the Thief 'Flamer' thing... I heard a story yesterday that in South Africa they install devices on the cars to protect them from being 'Carjacked'... it involves a flame thrower type device mounted under the doors that can be operated from inside the car to keep the attackers at bay.... I guess there are all sorts of solutions to 'anti-theft' devices... :) http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/africa/9812/11/flame.thrower.car/ The article includes a quick time movie of the flame throwers at work... amazing... you gotta see this... Where your lap goes, so does your laptop.. :D A long chain, a locked steel box, an unemployed bum paid to act as minder (nah, he'd nick it himself)..... IMO Any software solution is likely to be disabled, I.E. by formatting & reinstalling. It would have to be hardware & built into the mobo as add-ons can be removed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- DesignerCouncil Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF DesignerCouncil.
