Depends on the thickness of the mask - is it a thin residue or is it a deposit yielding the same thickness as the general coating? Thin residues can be removed by solvents (MEK, etc) with a q-tip. Thicker deposits will need abrasion by hand (the method depends on the hardness - brass or fiber brushes work well - but a exacto #12 is fast and most effective). Laser is the easiest and most costly for thicker deposits - you will need the data for the mask layer and hope it is a common location. Importance: High Technetters, We have pads of hand soldering locations covered with solder mask making it difficult to solder. Is there any other way to solder besides scarping the solder mask (abrasive) and use solder fountain? I am looking for any easy way to remove solder mask or soldering technique. Any help will be highly appreciated.
