Help, I have been tasked with finding a way of remote mounting part of a
circuit assembly received from a vendor. The problem is the component I
am looking to remote mount is attached to the main unit using ribbon
cables. These cables appear to have gold fingers at the attachment site
affixed to gold fingers on the circuit assembly we whish to remote
mount. There are no signs of solder or silver epoxy at the separated
sites, and the ribbon cables peel away from the circuit card assembly
with little force. So - my questions are 1) how are the ribbon cables
attached , and 2) is there a reliable, NON-DAMAGING way to remove them
for rework?
