Certainly, I apologize for letting this get out of hand, Andy. This is a forum for Designers Council discussion and all aspects of designer's life that affect us as designers, we just need to keep it focused on how we as Designers are affected by subjects that come up and not get off into other areas that do not pertain to our field. It's a professional discussion group... :) Thanks for all the great comments and I'm sure we will not continue the heated political 'flame wars' as we are far too professional to let that happen here... Let's keep the discussion to PCB Design related issues. Best Regards, Bill Brooks PCB Design Engineer , C.I.D., C.I.I. None of these are appropriate for this forum. Could we please restore some civility to this discussion, or better yet can it altogether. There's a place for politics, and this sure isn't it. Nobody forces you to work in the USA, and nobody forces you to even be here (you could have gone elsewhere)it is your choice, before you make a claim to your rights, make sure you take care of your responsibilities, until you are a citizen, you have no rights as far as I'm concerned It has been decided in many court cases and executive decisions, that you pay taxes affords you no rights, whether I or any other citizen pays taxes give us absolutely no rights or special privledges, maybe it did where you came from, it doesn't here -----Original Message----- From: DesignerCouncil [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Barbara Burcham Sent: Wednesday, April 21, 2004 4:31 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [DC] Nope, I meant "legal immigrants" Or...do the work and become a citizen. As a LEGAL resident alien, I am not allowed to vote but I am most certainly taxed on my income. I think the phrase "taxation without representation" comes to mind. Perhaps some compromises may work: - allow legal immigrants to participate as election workers at the polls (currently this is also a restriction and we all know after the 2000 "election" that things didn't go quite right) - allow legal immigrants to vote at the local level(s) only More food for thought; thank all for your time.
