We buy COD test kits from Austin American Technology for $13. http://www.aat-corp.com/ -Joe -----Original Message----- From: d. terstegge [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Thursday, March 04, 2004 4:01 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] COD test kit Hi Technet, To check the carbon filters of our AAT closed loop cleaning system we test the water coming out of the filter with a so called "COD testkit", COD=Chemical Oxigen Demand. The kit consists basically of a simple plastic ampul with a few milligrams of some chemical powder. The idea is to make a little hole in the ampul, fill it with water, wait a few minutes so the dissolved chemical reacts with organics in the water, and then check the color of the water. Pink=OK, Blue=filter is saturated and needs replacement. The test should be done a few times a week. I just found out that we're paying a ridiculous 27 euro's for one such ampul (about 36 US$). Does anyone know a more affordable way to check if a carbon filter is still clean enough to catch organic contaminants from the rinsing water ? Maybe you know which chemical this is ?
