Here's all of ours, since we don't officially have "Senior" designers (don't know how good it is): PCB/IC MASK DESIGNER PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for technical support of engineering activities to include, CAD drafting, engineering prototype, PCB/component layout and design, technical illustration and component/engineering documentation. Produces finished documents, drawings, layouts and designs. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans. Utilizes, mechanized and/or computer-aided techniques as required. LEVELING CRITERIA: LEVEL A: Under direct supervision, performs basic, routine work requiring limited knowledge of engineering standards and/or use of advanced processes/techniques. Typically requires high school level vocational training, plus 0 to 1 year experience. This is a trainee position for people new to the field and/or the family. LEVEL B: Work requires some knowledge of engineering specifications related to tasks and the ability to apply/utilize advanced processes/techniques. Requires AA/AS degree or equivalent advanced technical training and 0 to 2 years experience. This is the entry level for experienced/career-level production employees. LEVEL C: Independently performs work of moderate complexity requiring thorough knowledge of engineering specifications related to specialty. At this level employee is able to make some contribution to the improvement of engineering design documentation. Typically requires AA/AS degree plus a minimum of 2 years experience. LEVEL D: Independently performs complex work requiring advanced knowledge of processes/techniques. Employee contributes to the improvement of engineering design documentation and provides leadership/work direction to other technical support personnel. Typically requires AA/AS degree plus a minimum of 4 to 5 years experience. LEVEL E: Engineering assistant able to independently complete circuit board and other engineering layout/design, working with limited documentation and requiring minimal assistance from engineers. Employee has mastery over the most advanced technical processes and acts as significant resource to engineers and other technical support employees. Typically requires an AA/AS degree plus a minimum of 6 to 7 years experience. This is for Earth technology, of course.
