hi,

sometime back we looked into the airline crash episode.  i believe it was attributed to kapton insulated wire where the insulation was wrapped not extruded.  the insulation unwrapped, and, voila, the problem.

as far as the use of teflon insulated wire, the teflon cold flows pretty easily.  if it run around a corner or up against a sharp surface it will cut through and short out.

as far as a alternate, you might look at kynar insulated wire.

Do you folks know of an acceptable insulation for wire that can replace KAPTON insulation.  KAPTON is subject to arc strike and has been attributed to air line crash.  Additionally, Columbia accident board investigated its use in shuttle and mandated inspection of all such wire in order to extend shuttle life to 40 years.  The insulation I need must be able to withstand 650F, and teflon is not acceptable because of
