Ahne I would love to live in your e-land. Since 11 July 2003 at 15:06, I've received exactly 17,506 e-mails, of which 5,160 were classified as spam, bounces or "out-of-office" messages. Now, my ISP filters out most of the real spam and virus-carrying messages, so this 29.47% of unwanted messages is probably about half real spam and half the rest. Just for comparison, there were 4,225 IPC-related messages, mostly TechNet, so the volume of junk was more than the IPC EnviroNet, LeadFree and TechNet combined. If my ISP did not filter out spam and viruses, I would guess there would have been at least 20,000 unwanted ones. I admit that my ISP was caught napping with MyDoom, as my anti-virus picked up exactly 11 attempts to send it to me, the first viruses I've seen for many months. But I still say that these bounces are unforgiveable and, for me, are worse than the spam or viruses itself. I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my e-mail client. If you read Microelectronics International, due out on 7 May, you will see why I prefer it over Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Pegasus, Netscape Messenger etc., as a result of a comparison whereby I used each exclusively for at least 4 or 5 weeks, security issues being only one factor. I was also quite surprised to find that only 42.37% of persons I asked in a micro-poll used Outlook or OE: E-mail client No. votes Percentage Outlook 13 22.03% Outlook Express 12 20.34% Netscape 2 3.39% Mozilla 9 15.25% Mozilla Thunderbird 5 8.47% Eudora 3 5.08% Pegasus 1 1.69% Opera 5 8.47% TheBat 0 0% Other clients 9 15.25% Total 59 100% Brian Ahne Oosterhof wrote: > I do use Outlook, because I like it.
