I'm seeking input/confirmation about a problem I am observing for no clean wave soldering process. The problem is a constant build-up of white powdery flux residue in/around flux spray system. Our wave operators remove the residue around spray nozzle every 2/4 hours with brush/alcohol. It gets build-up quickly around the whole spray flux system. Boards that are wave processed have invisible white residue. It requires a clean wipe to see some. This flux is alcohol-based no clean with 2% resin as solid content. I am used to using alcohol-based no clean with organic chemistry as flux activator and didn't have any issue with white flux residue build-up. J-STD-004 calls out four classifications of flux composition (Rosin/Resin/Organic/Inorganic). Is white powdery residue build-up from resin formulation in the flux we are using? any thoughts? thanks Matthew S. Park Preco Electronics tel: (309)-263-7788 fax: (309)-266-6674 1651 N. Main Morton.
