James, we use a drop of Loctite on the screw threads to hold it secure. This assumes that the PCB has been designed to have a pad surrounding the hole that can make contact with the standoff, then use a specific torque setting on the screw. We reaffirm our FCC compliance on several devices periodically and have seen no degradation using this technique. Of course, the method you suggest is the most positive, but costly. The screws have a dual function, one being to hold the PWB in place, the other is to ground the PWB to the housing. An ongoing problem is that, over time, the PWB material flows, causing the screws to loosen slightly, thus compromising the ground. On approach is to mount grounding terminals to the side wall of the housing and connect a wire from it to the PWB. I was wondering if there is any other techniques or products available that may solve this problem.
