Subject: [TN] Lead-free HASL
We have a customer asking for Pb-free HASL. I am not familiar with this finish. The temperature for Pb-free solder would be quite high and the effects on a board, as well as the HASL equipment might be detrimental. The customer says it is used in Japan, he quotes a Matsushita Electric news release. The release seems to indicate that they are using a lead-free solder paste but that word is not used, just "PCBs with lead-free solder". Does anyone know of a Pb-free HASL process?
