Hi John Wow, 86000? Not fun. I see three possibilities, none of them very fun. In order of my preference: 1) use a stronger flux - are you using an OA? Of course, then you get into cleaning considerations 2) pay someone to strip and refresh the surface, we have used Six Sigma Services for this http://www.sixsigmaservices.com/ - but never for that quantity! 3) if you slip Dave Hillman a case of Mtn. Dew or his beverage of choice maybe you can use his ROSA machine regards, Graham Collins Process Engineer, Northrop Grumman Canada Corporation Halifax (902) 873-2000 ext 6215 >>> [log in to unmask] 10/17/03 03:14PM >>> I have a large inventory of trim capacitors that have exceeded the manufacturers shelf life by 2 years. Solderability testing has revealed inadequate wetting. The parts are on tape and reel. The plating is a thin layer of tin over nickel. We believe we have a oxidation problem. Does anyone have any ideas AT ALL on how we can recover these parts. The part has gone obsolete I have 86,000 of these things that I really really need to use. Any help would be appreciated Thanks John Foster --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ----------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 -----------------------------------------------------
