If using M$ Outlook, when replying, to convert HTML to plain text, do:
^A (select all), followed by ALT+O (format menu), then the t key.

It's not exactly automatic, but if you commit this ^A ALT+O t key sequence
to memory it tends to become so (but then again I am a keybd shortcut geek).
