It stinks.

Steve,

Just the lul before the storm, man!

You can use fuming nitric to remove most anything (including skin, fingers, bone, etc. if one is not careful) if you have the fume hood set-up and adequate safety procedures. It works really nicely.

On the other hand, you could go to http://www.dynaloy.com/products.htm and buy some Uresolve Plus SG, set it up on a hot plate under a fume hood and get quite good results for most molded plastic compounds. At least the Uresolve Plus SG does not have the obnoxious odor that the Decap from Dynaloy has.

Sorry, have not made any attempt to smell fuming nitric.

Best wishes

Subject: [TN] Plastic IC Decapsulation...

Mornin' All!!

Been rather quiet on the list over the past week or so, hadn't it? Either means everybody is on vacation, or everybody is so busy building stuff without problems that they don't have any spare time...like to wish that was the case.

Anyway, about Plastic IC Decapsulation, is that something I could do myself? If so, what sort of chemicals would I use? Or is this something better left to be done by the people who do that for a living, like failure analysis labs?

Thanks!
