My first choice would have been to use the "mini-wave" but couldn't because of clearance. I heat the board in an oven to 250 degF. grab it with welding gloves and run to my soldering iron. Not the most precise process but it works. Fortunatly I don't have to do very many of them. -----Original Message----- From: [log in to unmask] [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2003 11:01 AM To: [log in to unmask]; Charles Caswell Cc: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] Fab shops that are UL certified to do 6-oz copper... Hi Charles! We have a power supply assembly which is 0.90 thick and contains 18 total ozs. of copper - that exceeds the limits of hand soldering but we have been able to "mini-wave solder" it just fine. I can just imagine that 12 layers of 4 oz. would be equally difficult. What processes to you use to process a 12 layers of 4 oz. assembly? Ok Steve, I'll bite! What type of application utilizes 6 oz. copper layers? I have visions of trying to solder to a "bar" of copper if the resulting printed wiring board had 4-6 layers of 6 oz. copper! Anybody know of any Fab shops that are UL certified to do 6-oz copper? We work with some that are certified to do 5-oz, but not 6-oz. One of our customers is requesting this from us...
