Sounds like you need to introduce some JIT principles onto your floor, such that the kits are only completed at point of use - either that or your pick list contains some remark that the parts are located in a dry cabinet and the operators have to go get them at the time of machine loading or hand soldering or whatever. Our process is such that the stockroom puts the parts in the bin and the job is launched to the floor, by the time production notices that these parts are in the bin it is too late to bake them for 24 hours if they need it.
