Fred,

If you're only going to do an assortment of through hole boards (this sounds
like a light volume) then a foam fluxer is an inexpensive way to go. If you
want to make the added expense of a spray fluxer then more information is
needed about the flux that you plan to use.

If you're going to use no clean, a sprayer with nitrogen works nicely.

If you're using OA or Rosin flux, a foam fluxer w/o nitrogen will work fine.

These are only general recommendations for a general question.

Subject: [TN] Wave solder

I am investigating used wave solder equipment. How important is spray
fluxing versus foam fluxing, also how important is it that the unit have a
hot air knife, and be nitrogen capable. We will only be using it for
assorted thru hole components on mostly surface mount boards that have been
already refolded. I don't anticipate doing any wave soldering of SMD
components.

Thanks,

Fred
