Polyurethanes and acrylics are both used a lot. Acrylics have the
performance most people need and can be removed for mod or rework simply
with localized application of a solvent. This is both an advantage and
disadvantage in that it indicates a low resistance to solvents. Urethanes
are tough with good performance , however, once cured, they can only be
removed by burning or abrasion (scraping) for rework. We use both and have
applied them with selective coating equipment and by hand (spray and brush).
Drying can be in ambient air, conveyor oven or bake oven. Solvent systems
are the most forgiving (I think) but have VOCs. Waterborne also can work
well but need a slower drying. Urethane and acrylics are both available in
100% solids, UV cured versions.

Both are very good systems. I bought a Nordson, just because I was used to
the operating system. Both systems have their advantages.
