From: Fern Abrams Subject: IPC to Develop Handbook on Materials Declarations With the shift to lead free and other impending materials bans, a growing number of OEMS and EMS companies are requiring electronic equipment manufacturers to complete lengthy questionnaires regarding the presence of metals, chemicals, and other materials of concern. Completion of these 'materials declarations' is becoming a significant issue for electronic equipment manufacturers and is also expected to impact suppliers to the electronic equipment industry as the need for detailed materials information moves through the supply chain. The IPC Environmental, Health and Safety Committee will be developing a voluntary standard to guide IPC members in completing materials declarations. All interested parties are welcome to attend an introductory conference call on Tuesday April 23 at 2pm EDT. The call in number is 620-584-8200 code 8229#.
