Dear Brian,
As you found out, I totally disagree with you on
HTML, as I find it better to read in colors from time to time as black over
white is straining my view. Moreover, when one needs to emphasis something, the
colors are nice.. i.e. the text from someone in a color etc.. or the question
and answer in different colors..
You probably have the nostalgia of the black and
white TV or the green screen computer you sold me (a PET from Commodore) so many
years ago..
I too, am stuck with a 56K modem but it doesn't
bother me that much as I am using a software to get the optimum from it..
BUT this should not refrain you from being polite !
John and you should save your time and practice PRO-ACTIVE behavior instead of
finding all the reasons for lighting up oil lamps..
You have to know that I am particularly
disappointed with your behavior and language. I had esteem for the dinosaur,
full of knowledge that you are, and start hoping new blood will come and take
over the shrinking members 1'700 to 700 - minus the disgusted ones such as Earl
and many others I know...
It is useless to reply to this message - I am
disgusted of the old gang acting out in the dark with such a cranked
tongue.
Bye - Roland

Objet : Re: [TN] dwindling numbers
I agree with you, John. HTML for e-mailing is a pest of the
first water.
Not only does it unnecessarily consume bandwidth (remember 95%
of the
world's Internet connections are NOT broadband, including myself,
stuck
with a 56 kbit/s connection), it signifies inconsiderate selfishness
for
those forced, through no fault of their own, to download them. Not
only
that, HTML text messages are frequently MUCH more difficult to
read,
because the font and/or colour have been chosen to please the
sender,
rather than the reader. And does it convey a iota more intelligence
to
the message? NO! Unless it is to say that the originator is a
s.....h,
i...........e, b.....d! Do I feel strongly about this?
YES!
