, Roland, I must line up with Brian on this one. HTML mail is like sending a postcard in a giant box with lots of packing material. Sure colors make fine emphasis, and I'm glad to hear of the high standard of living in your area that makes DSL or other high speed technologies universal. But the size versus benefit that Brian points out is not easily disputable. My own pet peeve with HTML is as Brian also alludes to, the display optimization becomes embedded by the sender and cannot readily be overcome by the recipient. As an example, since my display is primarily for CAD, it's big and high resolution. Your mails, and others like them, may be fine on your tube. But on mine the text displays as a tiny line of dots - to read it I must cut and paste the content into another window where I can control the font size. Plain old ascii text is the email medium of choice for a number of reasons. I respectfully submit that you should investigate using the colors and fonts on your browser to make the ascii mail less of a strain - however you may find the html based posts you receive don't behave for you. As for the need to allude to the nature of fossils like me, I will also respectfully ask you to put a sock in it. (obligatory smilie here - ;) Cheers, -- Jeff Seeger Applied CAD Knowledge Inc Chief Technical Officer Tyngsboro, MA 01879 jseeger "at" appliedcad "dot" com 978 649 9800 --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 -----------------------------------------------------
