Most, if not all, chip-style SMD parts are designed in metric units, not imperial units. If I'm not mistaken, the original standard for SMD components was established by European companies, hence metric numbers. A 1206 part is actually .126 X .063 (3,20 X 1,60), with only the first two sig digits given. Just wanted to add to the confusion; and just think, we have 3 more days to go! Cordially, Roger M.
