Hi Kenny We do two things: 1) keep monitors as far away from work as possible. Typically on shelves, away from the workbench surface. 2) install the static shielding (grounded) shields on the monitors Welcome to the 21st century! Maybe in the 22nd we will be able to afford to put LCD displays on the benches... regards, Graham Collins Process Engineer, Northrop Grumman Canada Corporation Halifax (902) 873-2000 ext 6215 >>> [log in to unmask] 03/26/03 02:07PM >>> We are looking to step up to the 21st century and put computers at each operators work station. With the amount of paper that we use that should save a tree or two along with all the other obvious benefits. The question I've been asked is what about ESD? I've taken a static meter and went all around a monitor and got some interesting results. The screen and plastic around the screen showed only a couple of hundred volts. Just around to the sides of the screen it jumped to a few thousand volts. Further back on the sides it dropped back to a couple of hundred. My question to you all is, what do you do with monitors at work stations where you are handling static sensitive components?
