Ask the mfr if they have torque recommendations to prevent damage or over stress -----Original Message----- From: McCall,Doug [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2003 9:49 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Screwing in place fine-pitch SMT connectors Hi to all, We have an SMT connector that has two plastic fixing lugs coming out in line with the single row of pins (two rows at the connector interface but one row at the PCB surface). The connector supplier is recomending that it should be secured down to the board with two screws. Thw screws are to be 2mm. Pitch of the connector is 0.635mm. I am concerned that fixing the connector down using a screw and nut may over stress the intermetalic solder joint between the connector and the PCB pad. Any comments much appreciated.
