A lot depends on how much detail you want, a good place for a first look is the IPC documents.  There is a old IPC-PC-90 , General Requirements for Implementing Statistical Process Control, that explains the terms and is a good tutorial if you can still get it ( I think it has been superceded).  If you want more statistical details and have a math background there is The Cartoon Guide to Statistics by Larry Gonick and Woolcott Smith that takes it a step further with what is statistics all the way to design of experiments which is a tool used in continuous improvement

  I am looking for some sort of training manual on SPC methods.  My knowledge on SPC is limited and I need more of an understanding of certain terminologies within SPC.  Does anyone know of a good book or training course where one can get the basics of SPC, Cpk, Six Sigma and so on.  Your help is greatly appreciated.
