Hi Peter,
The "Bulbous Solder Connection", or sometimes more irreverently referred to
as "Pregnant Guppy Solder Joints," were an attempt to create reliable solder
connections for leadless ceramic chip carriers in the Air Force Mantech
program run by Martin-Marietta. Harvey Salomon of GE did some of the
reliability testing. This part of the program failed as Mel indicated.
