Peter, It's funny you mentioned Joyce. I met with her in Chicago at the SMTA International. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting her, she is a really nice person who has a wealth of knowledge. Joyce, I know you're reading this....don't blush. As far as packaging, that's my main point of puzzlement. I don't know how it'll be done. If it will be accomplished with current technology (i.e. BGA, CSP, etc.) or something entirely different, but it seems like it will be a wild ride. It should be about poised to "hit the streets" in commercial applications, but the only person I know who knows anything about this area is our own Joyce Khoo (in a former life). One thing none of us knows yet is how this technology will be packaged and what issues it will present to board designers and assembly floor rats. Maybe those should be our areas for discussion - to find out what we know (if anything at this stage) and what we don't know. I think we have a lot of research and reading ahead of us to prepare for the day when we're personally faced with it and can hit the ground running. Peter "Jason W. Does anyone else follow this technology? It seems we're bordering on the age of hyperfast computing. http://www.e-insite.net/semiconductor/index.asp?layout=article&articleid=CA267248&pubdate=1%2F1%2F2003 Jason Gregory SMT Production Supervisor LaBarge Inc.
