Optimum has a library for Mentor... I can't really vouch for it because I have never used it but it might be an option for you.

We have just started our training course in PCB design at Palomar College using Mentor and I can say it's a complex program with a lot of training needed to really understand what's going on. It has specific restrictions to the order of operations that can frustrate the novice and we are working on streamlining the education process for using the tool next semester. We are not really delving into the deeper areas in the software yet, this is a beginning class and we really can't push too much on our students at once... so supplementary education with the tool will most likely be needed for most students to really gain proficiency with the software. One of my students has taken the on-line class that Mentor provides and said it was very helpful. You might check with Mentor and see about that training as well.

Of course, if you are close to San Diego, you can always take our class at Palomar and learn at your own pace over the semester, but it sounds like you are in a hurry...

Best wishes,

Subject: [DC] Need software help

Hello All,

We've purchased Mentor Design Capture and Expedition PCB.  We've had the software for a while and due to work load, I've been unable to spend time learning it.  Now I need to get up and running pretty quick.  I've looked into Mentor training but would need to spend almost as much for that as for the software!!  Is there anyone out there who might be willing to teach me the basics or point me to another source for help?  The Mentor help files and tutorial are the "do this, then do that" type with no explanation as to why you're doing it or any other relational information.  I need to learn DC and Expedition and create all new library parts for our components.  In other words, I need help with everything.  I know I'm asking for a lot.  Please contact me off list if you can help.

Thanks!!
Sue James
