Hi Rich!

This connector does have compliant pins, but AMP (Tyco) calls them "Action Pins".
Here's the datasheet:

The holes in the board are what the datasheet calls out for that connector, I just got through checking the gerber. Everything is set-up perfectly to press it, and forget it!
(where have I heard that before? Ron Popeil?...oh no, it's set-it, and fah-get it!)

But we're still gonna press and solder the darn thing in because that's what the customer wants, and we ARE all about customer satisfaction.

I think it is important to note that, as most of us know, compliant pin technology is not designed to be soldered.  All pressfit connections are not compliant - some pressfit connections are designed with retention features that are there only to enable a good soldered connection. Connections designed for compliant pins which have proper drilled hole size, and proper plating should never have to be soldered.  It's when these factors are not met that suppliers and customers have to discuss either scrapping the board or soldering the compliant connections and accept the risks associated with that decision. After having spent many years working for the worlds's largest connector manufacturer, I never heard of a failure caused by an "unsoldered" compliant! pin.
