My experience is that when people buy off their own work it is prone to error. If they misinterpret the drawings during set-up they will probably do the same during inspection. You should consider the time spent as an investment that reduces the overall schedule time by catching mistakes early. If you have never found any mistakes at first article inspection you probably owe several people a commendation or "employees of the month" award.
