> Fellow TechNetters, > > What IPC document covers Reliability Testing such as 85/85. What is > accomplish by this test. IPC-TM-650 Section 2.6.2 and 2.6.2.3 (I think?). Such testing is used to characterise certain process materials such as fluxes, conformal coatings, solder resists. > What IPC document covers Reliability Testing such as 85/85 with BIAS. > What is accomplish by this test. > 85/85 with Bias refers to SIR testing. Again, this is to characterise fluxes. Reliability testing using SIR is new. There will soon be a new International specification that is intended to help characterise a manufacturing process. What is accomplished by this test? Whether the flux that you use in production will give you reliable products. The test is designed to drive electro-chemical failures that take the form of dendrites. > Victor G.
