That does it! The aluminium is incompatible with the strong alkaline
cleaners (and chlorinated solvents would need to be heavily stabilised,
as well). Your only hope, IMHO, is a good methylene chloride based gel
with a bit of phenol added for good luck (MC/DCM alone will not attack a
properly cured epoxy within a reasonable time) - nasty stuff.

BTW, don't be misled because other organics, such as DMSO, are said to
be less dangerous than MC/DCM. They are possibly much more dangerous but
there are fewer regulations, because they haven't been thoroughly
evaluated for toxicity (like nPB, for example).
