This project is funded in part by several leading electronics OEMs as well as the EPA Design for the Environment program, and has the backing of both IPC and the Electronics Industries Alliance (EIA). Results of the lead-free solder project are due out by middle of next year. The leachability of metals from assembled PWB's is a key component to the evaluation of the potential end-of-life impacts resulting from the use of the various solders. As such, the project is planning to conduct thorough leachability testing on boards assembled with each of the lead and lead-free solders being studied. To conduct this testing, we are in need of PWB's meeting the following criteria: OSP-coated unpopulated boards preferred 1kg mass of boards or more per board design (required to support redundancy in testing--each sample requires 100g of PWB ) single- or double sided If your company would like to support this important research and is able to donate some boards for testing, please contact Jack Geibig at 865-974-6513 or by e-mail at [log in to unmask] More information about this project as well as a description of the proposed methodology to be used for the leachability testing can be found at the following web address.... http://eerc.ra.utk.edu/ccpct/lfsp-projectinfo.html and then selecting project documents from the list at the top of the page. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give.
